Endodontic treatment on lower right first molar with radix entomolaris

By definition, Radix entomolaris is the presence of an additional distolingual root in mandibular molars. The extra root is on the lingual side of the root.…

I got this patient with a big cavity which had been opened by another operator. The patient said that she had 4 visits and don’t know when is ended because she still feel pain while chewing.
The radiographic showed radiolucencies at the bifurcation area.

After taking informed consent. I build up the distal wall prior to root canal treatment. Shaping was done with ProtaperNext (Dentsply), coronally sealed with composite resin Z350 flowable (3MESPE).
Xray image taken with durr sensor 7.1 (60kV, 3mA, 0.03seconds).

Take a look at the presence of lateral canal at coronal third of mesial root.
Now we know why there is radiolucencies at the bifurcation.. 🙂
